For teachers
Need Aku books for your classroom?
Have a DonorsChoose project requesting Aku books? Share your link. We review each project before it goes on the classroom board.
No project yet? “Add my class” tells us you are interested. It does not create a DonorsChoose project, and it is not a promise of funding, a feature or books.
How it works
- Teachers create a project on DonorsChoose.
- They share the project with Aku.
- Supporters visit DonorsChoose to contribute.
Questions
How do I support a classroom?
Pick a classroom on the board and choose “View on DonorsChoose.” That opens the teacher’s project on the DonorsChoose website, where you can contribute.
Where does my contribution go?
Contributions are made through DonorsChoose, toward the project you choose. Aku does not receive or process contributions, and we never handle your payment.
How can I add my classroom?
If you have a DonorsChoose project requesting Aku books, use “Share my project.” We review each project, and add it to the board if it meets our listing requirements. No project yet? “Add my class” tells us you are interested.
More questions
What is DonorsChoose?
A nonprofit website where teachers ask for things their classrooms need.
How do I know if a classroom still needs support?
Open the project on DonorsChoose to see its current status. We do not show live totals here. We mark a classroom as fully funded once we know it is.
What do you show about a classroom?
The school, grade, city, the teacher’s name and one line from the teacher. Never a student’s name or photo.
